ABOUT DIABETES

Symptoms of type 2 diabetes

Knowing the signs

If you’re experiencing some of the following symptoms or suspect that you have diabetes, you should speak with a health care provider. There are simple tests to see if you have diabetes.

Some common signs and symptoms of diabetes include:

  • Unusual weight loss, even if you are eating more (type 1)
  • Numb or tingling hands or feet

Staying on top of your symptoms

Some diabetes symptoms can go unnoticed or are ignored. For example, being thirstier than usual may not seem like a big deal, but it could be a sign that you have diabetes.

A key to treating diabetes effectively and lowering your risk for serious health problems is detecting it early. Pay close attention to all the signs and symptoms, and consult your health care provider if you’re concerned about any of them.
